The marine environment of Shimoni and the Wasini Channel remains pristine, healthy and exciting. Low-impact fishing by the local community has ensured that the reefs remain well-protected and abundant with resident dolphins roaming the channel and the bays. We enjoy seasonal migrations of humpback whales (August-October) and whale sharks are regular visitors in January, February and March.
The calm bay of the Kisite and Mpunguti Marine Park with its several islands is a snorkeller's paradise.
Shimoni is an ideal place to learn to scuba dive on the shallow reefs while more experienced divers can enjoy the deeper reefs and drift dives.
For sport fishermen, the Pemba channel is world famous for bill fish, especially marlin, as well as tuna, wahoo, dorado, etc.
The Wasini channel, right in front of the lodge, offers a fantastic kayak experience, even for novices.
